There is a bit of Fun factor vs ET to consider when getting your custom tune...you can still have it smash in fast and give excitement import style, maybe even ask for 2 tunes, one fastest ET, one for seat of the pants thrills? Leaves one slot for valet tune in case you lend it out! This is assuming xcal3 tuning of course.

Also it could be that imports aren't as padded to reduce sound and vibration, so it feels scarier riding in one compared to a falcon. I know after having a long ride in a modded S15 and getting back in the falcon...it felt like a 4wd limousine but with power! Also WAY quieter in my falc...external gate on the Nissan :) But also exhaust noise in general was massive in the S15.

Yeah, exhaust noise is massive in my S14, with the coilovers set to near-hardest and turbo flutter, whine and air intake, theres a lot of noise, roughness, shaking around and.. well, yeah, its a real "throw you around" kind of experience, but it feels really racey

I think I would want to get adjustable shocks, set them harder and probably have the manual gearbox, will probably get it close to the silvia experience im used to :)

I think I've decided the manual might be the way to go, even though clutches are expensive

Are the 6 speed manual BF boxes known to be knotchy or crunchy? the silvia knocks into 3rd pretty bad, when its freezing cold sometimes it wont be happy at all going into 3rd. only for the first or second shift though, then it warms a little

if u can drive and are interested in making the car go sideways than go the manual ,not to say the auto wont hang the ass out, its just I find it extremly hard to place confidance in the zf wen shifting from 1st to 2nd wen doing a slide/drift your never quite sure whats gonna happen wen u bumb that stick to second once already sideways still very doable just not as predictable as the manual , the auto is fast and once u get fully used to the tiptronic burning around the streets is almost to eazy with all that power I dont no if I could ever say its boring, silvia's needed the cluch to kick the revs cause the turbo was probly very lagy this is not a problem with the xr6ts especialy the fg xr6ts so much low down power. the manual was a bit clunky but was fine wen changed quickish, I never tryed a flat change in it as it was on a test drive can u belive they gave me the keys to a 09 fgt manual to take for a test drive by my self with the missus. however I did get a good test drive in and if I could have the manual I would but the auto still makes me very happy in pants!

Looking at getting an f6 or xr6t, must be a bf2 that's all I have right now haha.

I got the ZF. really only because the manuals are so rare from my searching. if I had to choose between an auto and a manual I would prob choose the manual. but there's advantages and disadvantages to both I guess. ive heard the manuals are relatively maintenance free if the oil is kept up nice. prob cheaper to fix if something goes wrong to.

but, if a ute is much slower or worse off than a sedan, well, its a factor

...but you're looking at a slower XR8? You sure the sound track would outweigh the not so stellar performance in a B series XR8?

I'd go for a slower V8 but only if it was a classic mustang or XB GT, and only for weekend cruising. Would have to be my second car.

I think if I was going for a V8 of that era it would be a commonwhore. So much easier to get performance out of and performance parts here in NZ. They also hold their resale better for some reason. You may have gathered I don't really go for "brands" but more for performance and drive-ability, hence the XR6T :)
