Any information would be greatly appreciated on what would be involved and if you think its worth doing?Cheers, Paul. There's nothing wrong with my engine at the moment as its had an easy life and regular servicing. The car is 100% stock but I've got the bug and want to do things properly and not half arsed and would rather have peace of mind knowing everything is fresh rather than having the engine that's in it now letting go so I'm thing spend a bit now to save a bit later! Donating Members 15,637 Member For: 18y 16d Gender: Male Location: Melbourne Posted 19/01/12 10:30 AM Share Posted 19/01/12 10:30 AM I was looking a buying a car off a mate but the original purchaser came through last minute. It's not as cheap as you would think, depending on your car (gearbox/condition) it might be a better idea to just upgrade to a BF Mk2.Having said that if your cars in good nick and your happy with the gearbox then be prepared to pay 8-14k to get it done. From the look of things, it does'nt seem to painful. Me and a mate will do most of the work so if I decide to go this way, I don't think the costs involved would hurt the hip pocket to much either. Thanks again, Paul. Was sold to me as a BA/BF F6, but seems to have an FG bottom end as confirmedby that video, as the mechanic had to take a piece out of the RH engine mount.(and had 2 dipstick holes)Not hard, and not expensive to buy and fit the water pipes to the engine oil cooler on the F6 engine, although, not sure if the shortcomes with the cooler( my long did)Otherwise, no dramas.
