G'day all, just contemplating buying an FG short from Ford but I'm wondering if the bolt ons from my BA MK2 will fit and if anyone has done this swap before? Any information would be greatly appreciated on what would be involved and if you think its worth doing?

Cheers, Paul.

Cheers Dillz, The fg shorts are too good value to pass up. There's nothing wrong with my engine at the moment as its had an easy life and regular servicing. The car is 100% stock but I've got the bug and want to do things properly and not half arsed and would rather have peace of mind knowing everything is fresh rather than having the engine that's in it now letting go so I'm thing spend a bit now to save a bit later!

I was looking a buying a car off a mate but the original purchaser came through last minute. It's not as cheap as you would think, depending on your car (gearbox/condition) it might be a better idea to just upgrade to a BF Mk2.

Having said that if your cars in good nick and your happy with the gearbox then be prepared to pay 8-14k to get it done.

Thanks lads, much appreciated. From the look of things, it does'nt seem to painful. Me and a mate will do most of the work so if I decide to go this way, I don't think the costs involved would hurt the hip pocket to much either.

Thanks again, Paul.

I just fitted a new long F6 motor to my BA ute. Was sold to me as a BA/BF F6, but seems to have an FG bottom end as confirmed

by that video, as the mechanic had to take a piece out of the RH engine mount.(and had 2 dipstick holes)

Not hard, and not expensive to buy and fit the water pipes to the engine oil cooler on the F6 engine, although, not sure if the short

comes with the cooler( my long did)

Otherwise, no dramas.
