Im competant with stick but its not my specialty.I have tig welded a bit of cast iron using stainless 316l wire, however I would not trust it with my life. As you probably know the cast is brittle. Provided its alluminised mild steel for the rest of the system it will last a long time but if there is a spot where it is prone to water collection it will take that bit out.
