Later is fine with me, only reason April was suggested was to avoid the winter night(s) if staying on the mountain. But if we're just doing a day trip or spending one night elsewhere then crisp mountain air during the day will be a wonderful thing. :3gears:

So Here are my thoughts:

DATE: Saturday 5 May 2012

TIMES:

Depart Wivenhoe 9am..

DESCRIPTION:

Start off at Wivenhoe Dam, grab a few happy snaps here as the cars will be clean.. Meet in the parking area near the viewing platform.. Head north to Kingaroy through Benarkin Forest (Some good bends here), Yarraman and Nanango.

From Kingaroy we’ll head up to the Bunya’s and grab some lunch. Café up the top does some nice burgers alternatively I can load an esky and everyone can throw in 5 bucks or something for some snags, steaks, onions and bread and we’ll cook them up there).

After leaving the Bunya’s there are several lookouts which will provide great photo opportunity. We will head down to maclagan and through to Crows Nest. And from here I'm thinking people will take their different ways home.. Time depending we can also go to lake perserverance for another photo opportunity.

I would strongly recommend people get fuel in Kingaroy.. These cars do chew quite a bit going up the mountain range.

I verified 80% of this route a couple weeks ago driving and using our work road network maps for the remaining 20% it should be sealed the entire way.. Unless there is roadworks.. (So it's okay for Bomber and Mark).

MEET:

Depart 9am Wivenhoe Dam parking area.

ROUTE:

430km about 6 hours (but budget for 8-9 hours to take into account lunch and refreshment breaks)

All on sealed roads. (Yes It’s a decent drive.. It will be a big day)

You can check out the google Route here:http://maps.google.com.au/maps?saddr=Warrego+Hwy%2FA2&daddr=Lake+WIvenhoe+to:Yarraman,+Queensland+to:Kingaroy+to:Bunya+Mountains+Rd+to:Dalby-Cooyar+Rd+to:Crows+Nest+to:Toowoomba,+Queensland+to:Warrego+Hwy%2FA2&hl=en&sll=-26.906151,151.942291&sspn=0.800904,1.580658&geocode=FbkuW_4d7jYaCQ%3BFT-2X_4dBi8XCSmdcK682R2UazFwxCB_8e4ABA%3BFd5vZv4d2QwPCSm5nLr6TciVazHQvyB_8e4ABA%3BFboEa_4dWOIMCSnzfBYeL6SVazEA-CB_8e4ABQ%3BFTbfZ_4dH0MJCQ%3BFWT0Yv4dJGwHCQ%3BFYQDYP4dfS4QCSmn1Gcn_n2WazEQwCB_8e4ABA%3BFdNmW_4dR6IOCSlh8mPqaVyWazGKUF0gExfXdw%3BFdc3W_4dBBYaCQ&mra=ls&t=m&z=10

While I'm keen for an overnight cruise if this is going to be my first attempt at organising one we'll stick to a day trip for now..

post up feedback bitches!

Either way day trip or overnight I'll be fine with it. About time you boys came out this way!! Pity April wasn't the plan as I have all of it off work. Awah well, time to book more annual leave.
