The T5 box has a 0.73 5th gear ratio.

The BA diff has 3.46 ratio.

At 110kph you will be doing around 2300 rpm in 5th gear.

You would need to drop in a 4.10 diff to get around 2800rpm. There are a number BA's that had this done.

That post above just made me go outside and check. I don't really pay attention to what revs the car is doing but remember the position of the needle.

2800 is too high. Mine sits on 2000 with 6spd manual.

6 speed manual is different.

The T56 box has a 0.62 6th gear ratio.

The BF diff has 3.73 ratio.

At 110kph you will be doing around 2100 rpm in 6th gear.

By comparison with a BF 6-speed ZF

The ZF box has a 0.69 6th gear ratio.

The BF diff has 2.73 ratio.

At 110kph you will be doing around 1700 rpm in 6th gear.

+1 too Brian's comment. 4.09 (closet you'll get too 4.11 in a ute diff) and a T56 with close ratio 1st/2nd/3rd was fantastic on the street. Was woeful when I removed the t56 and fitted a t5 too sell it.

Joey, I hope your cars not a purple ute and you dont live in Perth........

No idea of the other boxes, but my old BAT does 110 at 2300 in 4th (top) - so how a manual with a 5th gear could be 500rpm higher doesnt sound right?

Just applying a simple common-sense approach, happy to be corrected by those with more knowledge!

As Brian said it's too high, you want it off boost in top gear cruising or you will be unnecessarily burning more fuel then needed. Should be about 2100 at 100 from memory.
