Hi all, Just bought an XR6T BA MK II ute. I intend on keeping it basically stock but would like some advice on the best mods to maintain reliability.....so basically doing what Ford should have done in the first place. So far I have purchased an Earls braided turbo oil line kit, PWR Large trans cooler kit, Completed service ie - Changed oil, filter, diff oil, transmission service, fuel filter, K&N air filter & new belt.

I have got a set of Atomic valve springs on the way so I will do them when time permits. The car was a 1 owner with full history from new and was owned by an older guy (Radiologist) so has had an easy life.....has just clocked 100,000 ks. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Paul.

Cheers MX Dave, do you have a part number for the thermostat??? Excuse my ignorance but why an oil filler cap? Do the lose their seal after a while and start pushing a bit of oil out?

Some have been known to break and bits of plastic drop in. One member popped a bottom end recently an found the same type of plastic in the sump.

Yep^^^

umm do a search there is a full tutorial on replacement of the thermostat as its a very common mod. Sounds like your going to have a very reliable ride. And maybe diff bushes? Not sure if that would be worth doing on stock power though.

Cheers MX Dave, much appreciated mate. I'll get a new oil cap tomorrow and thermostat as well. The diff is quiet with no noises/ backlash at all so I'm not worried about that, just want to do everything (service wise) so I know everything is fresh even though it was only serviced 5000 ks ago. I will be doing oil changes at least every 5000ks using Penrite products as I can get them very cheap and I think its top quality stuff.

Thanks again, Paul.

No problem! I service mine every 7500 also usin Penrite oils. Good value for money stuff in my opinion. We service them at work every 10000. Better than fords 15000 :/.

Sounds like your very Cautious about your ride :)

Yeh, not so much cautious Dave, just like making sure everything is spot on mate, would rather fix it before it lets you down! I suppose at the end of the day, a car is only as good as the bloke looking after it!
