During the break I managed to get up to Willowbank in my FG XR6T, the car is pretty much standard except for an XR8 air box and K&N air filter. I also bought a set of semi slicks of ebay (the semi slicks were worth every cent the car hooked up awesome), but the car hit the rev limiter in every gear before shifting (in sports mode). I have never experienced this before and am thinking that is must have something to do with the semi slicks as they are 17's and quite a bit smaller diameter than the standard 19's. Does this sound right? Is there some sort of speed sensor issue that the smaller diameter tyres are causing? By the way I only got two runs with a best time of 13.6.

No doesn't sound right

I had no issues running 235 17's at the drags

Sports mode?

You mean performance mode? Or are you shifting manually?

Sorry, I meant perfomance mode and I was not shifting manually. This has never happened in similar driving style with the standard 19's.

The limiter may be set at 5800 but stock tachos are not that accurate so it would be hard to tell. Its probably showing over 6k anyway.

I'd say that your smaller diameter tyres have reduced the final drive ratio and made the car rev a bit quicker through the gears. Too quick for the trans to keep up with now, so it's pinging the limiter before it gets a chance to realise it's time to change.

Sounds like you might need to shift manually to take advantage of the shorter gearing.

It'll be a new challenge for you to both go qucker and maintain some consistency.
