Hey all,

I have been driving turbocharged cars for a while now, with 2 having a fuel pressure gauge fitted.

Upon decel (throttle off) these always read 0psi as no fuel is being sent to the rail.

Lately I have noticed that my Inst. Econ. is reading 5-6L/100k on decel (throttle off) on my G6E turbo.

I was in N.Z recently and had an XR6 rental car and sure enough when I drove around in it, it had a 0.00L/100k Inst Econ.

Is there something wrong with my car? Fuel pressure regulator perhaps? I have noticed that it has been using a bit more petrol than usual. I'm using 95 E10.

Thanks for any replies,

CLuTZ

wouldn't it depend on what RPM you are getting off the throttle?

I will compare to the instant economy readout next time I drive, but according to my wideband it only cuts fuel if decelerating above 1.8 to 2k RPM (from memory)

Mine shows both.

Sometmes it shows a number which increases as I slow down until it switches to Litres per hour when I'm stopped.

Other times it shows zero.

Dunno why it does different things.

Wierd.

It shows zero when decel fuel shut off has been activated, it gets activated by a ceratin load value is acheived after a certain load value was being used before shutting throttle, it also requires a certain road speed before being activated and will return to normal fueling when a certain road speed has been met.

Thanks for clearing that up- must be different for the N/A's because every time no matter what rev or speed, it would always decel on 0.

It got me thinking because I would have though it would've been the same if not close to the figure on idle.

Is this something that can be tuned to read as close to 0 as possible on any speed/load while decelerating?? It would reduce my fuel consumption dramatically!
