Ok so the so the pistons in my motor need replacing, should I get a good name brad or should I get some cheap aftermarket ones that don't really fit and slap around at a third of the price but I also want it to run tens?

Not a real good comparison as new pistons require machining the block no matter what you get, and the end result can depend alot on how good the machinist is.

Does the same logic you've used apply to people not using genuine ZF fluid, and a million other possible scenarios?

At the end of the day these cars aren't that flash as far as panel gaps, sagging front bars etc, so for a daily drive, and saving of over 1k compared to genuine, provided you have a decent panel beater, they should be ok.

Sorry my analogy wasnt up to par but was a simple ( glad you got it ) example of how we as a general group of like minded enthuiasts tend to spend a motza on things that arnt seen yet pinch afew pennies on the most cricial things.... apperance, that's who everone remembers it by. Jeez that car was quick ( insert car ) or That car looks good..

Cheers

Okay lets simplify it

Genuine Ford Bonnet good quality = Expensive fits well

Aftermarket Bonnet = Cheaper Fits not as good as genuine under Half the price

The decision is upto the buyer as to what they buy, I just thought I would clear it up so we can all agree

Would you agree with this, Hoarspower ?

I had an aftermarket one put on and it is fantastic. I didnt even notice any gap difference, being that every gap tolerance on the car is average anyway. I would never pay 1800 for a oem unit.

I've been looking at a few cars fitted with ebay steel bonnets, I am now going to purchase one as I really can't fault them at all.

Looks good, the supplier is local to me, and seems to be a decent bunch of people ,

Im pretty comfortabel with going this way over the genuine one.
