Is the skin thickness comparable to the factory bonnets? Did you notice the 20mm gaps when new?

theres a mention on ford forums some guys in WA used gordon bonnets, didn't say staying bad about them.

I'd prefer genuine but they don't pop up very often, most wreckers just try sell the aftermarket stuff too, and I'm not giving ford $1000+ for one...

I had a look at my auntys xr8 her bonnet skin had no gap at all it was glued flat!

I seem to be the first so called whinger with problems :) firstly the holes wernt even threaded! I had to pre drill them with the screw first and secondly the bonnet is very brittle dents just by pushing it shut.

Yep that's right ford factory bonnets don't come with threads already tapped, just run the original bolt throughout it first, as for not being able to tell the difference between the two ? Well once you know what your looking for it's pretty easy to tell.

just thought I would add a photo of mine I just put on.

Got it from Bogan special and it fits pretty god everywhere except only problem is that the gaps between the left and right guards and bonnet is a little bit bigger the factory bonnet but not noticeable. very happy with it though

Yep, im a panel beater by trade (left the job long ago) and I can also vouch for genuine fitment over aftermarket.

By the time you finish fart assing about with the aftermarket one, start having hassles when the bonnet strut mounting points start ripping out, the genuine one seems rather expensive at the time, but cheaper in the long run.

Do it once, do it right.

so after all that, buying an aftermarket bonnet is not worth it.
