I want to put 255/40/17's on my standard xr6t rims, my suspension is standard, will they rub or cause problems? I want to go wider so I get more rubber on the ground but can't afford new rims.

:pardon:

a tyre can be branded 255 but may not measure up to a 255. Had this happen a few times in different sizes. If you want grip you are better off finding a well know soft compount tyre. This will make a difference as even a hard compounded 275 wont grip as well as a soft compounded 205.

BTW the max size correct tyre for a 8" rim is max 245. I wouldnt put 255 although it will fit I would go with tyre manufacturer recomendation which is 245 in a solf compount for the rear and just normal harder compound for the fronts.
