got a few problems with my new boost gauge we installed its a autometer cobalt electric boost gauge I attached a few pictures as im pretty sure its correct problem is well it work once boost went to 14psi I backed off and the needle stayed booted it again needle then started from 14 to 30 an so on but if I reset the gauge by pulling out the fuse put it back in start the car the needle drops a bit but to 20 psi and sometimes all over the gauge and not giving the correct readings also there were times when it didnt work at all checked the instructions and everything seem to be correct map sensor mounted facing down also connected power to ignition and it doesnt lose power while cranking also confirmed by using a multi meter so should be calibrating ok as I was told if it loses powers during cranking or at all the gauge will not calibrate correctly. My guess is the gauge is faulty but does anyone know if we done something wrong before I take it to my tuner or just get a mechanical boost gauge lol any thoughts will be great, Thanks

Interesting. Seems like a good power source.

Have you tried seeing if the gauge functions from the 12v cig lighter or something similar just to check?

Hey mate havnt had time to try the cig lighter but I was told not to as it cuts off during cranking and the gauge wont calibreate right but will give it a go when I get time and see what happens, Thanks mate.

Completely agree with you buddy. I just wanted to suggest it because currently mine is hooked up like that but I know it works (minus calibration) so I thought you might like to set it up the same to make sure it is the gauge.

Where is your sender unit tapping in to? VAC line?

disconnect the vac line from the map sensor , does it goto 0, if not check the votage on the signal wire , if you suck on the the map sensor does the voltage rise/fall. sounds like an issue of the signal voltage from the map sensor. connect the gauge directly to the batt and make sure it calibrates. does it read 0. suck on the map sesor , does it read vac then return to 0?

let me know the results

Hey mate tried all of what you suggested needle stays on just over 30 psi it wont move at all now normally when I power reset the gauge the needle moves a bit but now its stuck got a auto elec to check it out he reckons the gauge is stuffed so just gonna return it for another one.

Thank for everyones input.
