It was a massive adrenaline rush.I suspected something was wrong about 20 seconds before it happened.. The car just did not feel right.I was in the right lane at the time and decided to knock off 10km/h and switch to the middle lane.It was when I changed lanes that the tyre sheared completely. I was told Michelins have pretty thin rubber on the side walls (which is where I got the puncture) - so I won't be buying the Michelin PS3s again. Listening for metal on concrete.........However, I was thinking, "What is more important, a cheap $250 wheel or attempting a wheel change on the Newcastle Freeway with less than 1m to spare on the curb?"Glad I went the 2km now.Wheel was still fine though, as I really babied it there to a safer place for the change to spare.Have ordered a Safety triangle on ebay today though. It happened 2 cars in front of me along the New England Highway - thank goodness there was a bit of shoulder to pull over to The wheel rubber was genuinely rolling along the road free wheeling like a penny farthing - I kid you not - was like something out of a movie
Guest XR09 Guests Posted 28/04/12 10:37 PM Share Posted 28/04/12 10:37 PM So their car tyres are the same as their bike tyres.I run an extra 3psi with Michies. Same thing on the PP3's for the bike. Great grip but the sidewalls are way too soft.Funnily enough Dunlop make a fantastic bike tyre called the Qualifier. Shame they don't up their game for cars. How do you go using two different tread patterns on he car front to rear ??? I have done that before and it did not go real well when playing hard.
