Hi. Does anyone know if you can get 3.1 (or there abouts) diff gears for a BFII Auto XR6T sedan?? Who are reputable makes/retailers? Are they hard to install?

Cheers.

Ive heard of people getting 3.23 gears done. I have no idea where from though. Id probably hit up the tuners or diff mobs for more info

If you dont really know what your doing ya should just get it rebuilt. could save a heap of cash by removing it yourself though.

With respect, why do this? It will make stuff all difference to the way the car actually goes. It will cost a fortune as well - and the money could be spent on 50 other things to improve the actual road feel of the car.

Are you in Sydney?

I have been advised by most shops for 3.2 or max 3.4 behind the ZF 6 speed. Any more 1st gear will be way too short

Nah in Brisbane, yeah wouldn't want to go shorter than 3.2 though I think 2.73 is too tall.

No worries. Have been looking in to it and probably better off just getting more power with a custom tune. I just think gearing's a bit too tall - does 3rd gear really need to go up to 180? It might be a nicer car to drive on a hilly, winding road with shorter gearing.

What initially made me think of this was when I went for a ride in a focus XR5 with a few mods - around 190kw atw and it feels like it pulls a lot harder in 2nd and 3rd with the shorter gearing. Guess I'll just have to go for more power!

It doesn't cost a fortune if you get a exchange reco diff centre with it already loaded with the gears (shops in syd and melb do this) Swap it over and fit the diff centre yourself.

Further more it does make a difference, it significantly shortens your gears. Car comes on boost quicker, guys with bigger turbos and bigger lag time need this.

With the ZF you shouldn't go too short 3.2 from what I gather.

My old 5.0ltre Late model camira was a completely different car when I fitted 4.11s with that 4speed auto. N/A and 4speed is something else though.

3.23 is the standard ratio for 4 spd.

2.73 zf

3.73 6spd man

3.1 is not a standard ratio so will cost a lot to do.

I thought 4 spd XR was a 3.45 ratio and family spec single spinner is 3.23? if it is a 3.23 it would probably be easier to get a ba 4 spd diff from a wreckers? I assume a BA diff will fit a BF that is?

My mistake, you are correct.

I just double checked.
