Managed to score a secondhand Premo sound unit for my BA XR. Fitted it all up,calibrated it and alls sweet. I want to put in the factory tweeters (or replacements if needed) but cant find the tweeter connector for the drivers side. Pulled out the schematics and found that it just looks like the tweeter wires just branch off from the door speaker wires. Stupid thing is,that the left hand tweeter plug is sitting in place behind the A pillar trim, yet the right isnt. Ripped everything out to gain access to all necessary wiring etc and found no I <3 Bananas plug back taped to loom anywhere.

Anybody tapped into the speaker wires on the Drivers side to run a tweeter? I know its best to put in an aftermarket amp etc and run better quality stuff, but want to do it on the cheap and keep it all factory looking. I got all the stuff extremely cheap so wouldnt mind using what I have if I can. Any help or others experiences with this appreciated.

Hey quadie, thanks for the reply. I removed kick panel, fuse box,A pillar trim, dash end trim and what ever else to trace loom, but cant find the 2 pin connector anywhere. Traced it all the way to the door jam connector. My car didnt come with Premo sound but wouldnt think they would have 2 different looms for each model, especially considering the L/H connector is clipped into its normal position ready to go. Do you know this from your own experience? If you are sure,I will pull kickpanel out again and double check. When I finish holidays,I might have to check with spare parts also,to make sure only 1 loom available.

From what I've read about the tweeters on the wiring diagram they just tap into the speaker wire which means there may not be a plug. My guess would b easiest way is to just splice into speaker wire and connect your tweeter. 3 speakers are in passenger side loom and one speaker is in drivers side loom let me know if u need colours for which speaker is which

There should be wiring there for it, but, if there isn't, you can do as above, because that is all that the factory wiring does.

The small capacitor on the tweeter acts as the crossover for the tweeter.

The woofer receives a full range signal.

Thanks for the replys guys. I printed the wiring schematics off at work so have all the colours etc. Yes,going off the wiring,it does look as if it just splices off the door speaker wiring. There is usually a 2 pin plug on either side, behind the A pillar trims,in vehicles with Premium sound. Maybe as mine didnt come with it,they dont put a plug on the drivers side, even though there is one on the passenger side. Pretty stupid but ah well, looks like I will be soldering in a couple of wires and a connector. Thanks 1600dave,I wasnt sure how the signal was seperated,so now it makes sense.

I pullled my drivers side apart last night.

the tweeter extensions are part of the loom heading towards the rear of the truck.

the come off the front channel. remember the capicator for a HPF.

cheers

Just an update incase anyone else wishes to do it. The plug behind the L/H A pillar connected fine to the tweeter and worked all ok. The R/H side didnt have a connector as only the high series loom has it. So for the R/H tweeter,I tapped into the R/H speaker wires at the orange connector behind the drivers kickpanel. All works a treat.
