I hate Optima batteries. Have had three and two died prematurely. I wouldn't spend that money on a battery again. Also the AGM battery really needs to be charged at a higher rate than most alternators put out to get a good charge in it. I put a diode in a regulator to get it to charge at 15 volts. I have started using Fullriver batteries and alot cheaper and for the small size of the 28a/hr bat start the car fine.

Who ever says optima batterys are crap is talking the same, I have two blue tops in my boat both 1000cca, blue tops are suitable for cars because they can handle more extreme vibration not to mention weather. Bought my boat in 2006 that's how old the batterys are I have left them disconnected for 12 months and they have no trouble cranking 225hp merc. If all w..a..n..k sterero systems are not wired correctly and are not switched off with ignition expect any battery to get the sausage.

Optima...best you can buy.

I talked my D51r up to alot of people then it up and died on my out of the blue. I think all AGM batteries have a limited life span in our cars due to the charging system in these cars.

Hey Ralph, any chance you could snap a pic of the C-tek you have in the engine bay? That's how I read it anyway lol, you have it hooked up in the engine bay..

I see there are a heap of different chargers available, what's suitable to the falcon turbos/yellow tops?

After reading about the blues I might even go one of them next time I need a battery..

I don't have the c-tel installed in the eng bay, I have a small connector on the battery that plugs into the c-tek. Will post some pics when I get home night

My XS7000 ctek came with + - to female connector with a short lead. You just hook it up to the battery posts and leave it in the engine bay and click it onto the charger unit when required.

Its just a lead with a plug that's left connected to the car permanently, makes it quick and easy. They also make cigarette lighter ones too.

This is what I use, works fine for me

Ahhhh I see. That makes it alot easier, rather than what I've had to do in the past putting it on a drip charger, remove battery, all that crap. Thanks for the links :spoton:

What would you say is the most beneficial? Yellow or blue top? And those Ctek chargers, few to choose from?
