Hi Guys,

Have a brand-spanka F6 sedan and was going to do all the big bolt-on mods but think I will wait a little while now, for warranty reasons.

I now just want to do:

a cat-back exhaust and

XR8 Bottom airbox section and snorkel (greater intake diameter)

*Does anyone believe that a tune will be require due to the increased air intake. Is it going to pop any codes?

*I know you can get away with a catback and no tune, but I just thought the intake, in conjunction with the new exhaust may just tip it over the edge?

I am only hoping to get a little throttle response and some noise out of this. Is there any actual power gain (not just the psychological gain...)

Thanks!

xr8 airbox and k&n will give a tiny bit of induction noise

catback depends on what you put on it

the xr8 airbox isnt really a massive mod that's going to make huge changes, in my opinion it makes really no difference, but plenty of people reckon there is, but they are the same people that think a spool pipe which does nothing, does something.

as long as the dump/cat isnt touched youll be fine mate. I got a growler intake on mine with the std exhaust, noticed a little bit of power gain but its bearly noticeable. with the growler and the silencer/cone replaced with alloy pipe the turbo spool is way louder.

cheers, Andy

I wouldn't even bother with the xr8, two holes in the bottom of the standard one like so..

..has the exact same effect. If you wan't more noise do this K&N filter and replace the silencer cone.

Hey Dillz,

Is that your airbox, with a hole-saw taken to it?

I was thinking the XR8 box with a larger snorkel, would draw real cold air from the mouth near the grill?

When we were young and stupid; we used to cut holes in the guard and get cold air from there. Seems many performance cars have pod filters and "cold" air intakes that draw warm air straight from the engine bay like yours.

If you think the XR8 or $500 growler is a waste of money, perhaps I will give it a go...

Would not have thought of that. Thanks mate!

Yeah that's mine, there is fark all hot air down there so I wouldn't stress. Depends on what your ultimate plans are, the cone replacement is more worth while if your after induction noise.

But if your getting a bigger cooler later on down the track I'd hold out for a turbo side intake, can make more power, better trottle respone and huge induction noise.

That's just my opinion.

Genius Dillz!

I got a spare std box sitting in shed that im gonna try that with...has to be better then current arrangement (xr8 airbox with no snorkle attached sucking hot air from thermo fans)
