Also the FG has a much nicer dash/audio more modern. I also contemplated a BF F6 but the FG interior won me. You should be able to pick up a FG with some warranty left to have all those bits and pieces that may need sorting fixed before you start modifying.

+1.

Is interior, features, warranty etc important in the decision? If so, its definately FG as they feel a generation ahead of the BA/BF.

If its power primarily then BF will be better bang-for-buck with mods.

If power is what you are after the BFII is what youre after if you don't want to open the engine or change turbo. The platforms that the cars are built on are identical, however the FG has additional alloy suspension components, which did put me off a little as steel has greater structural integrity, as these are big heavy cars.Different steering rack ratio from memory. Personally I like the look of the BF with the larger headlights on the outside, more traditional falcon look for me, but I do like the look of the side indentation of FG . Driveline identical in ZF form.Weight wise the FG is only 10kgs heavier. In standard form the FG,s 20% smaller turbo running higher boost levels is much better suited for street use, however running a smaller turbo faster will reduce longevity of the turbo in my opinion. For me bigger is always better. Where the Fg turbo is running out of puff the BF is actually operating well within its efficiency parameters. Make sure that you look up Dillz's thread (can't remember what its called but it is pinned) its full of good stuff on what you need to know. Probably the single most important thing you need to consider is how well serviced the car is. If correctly looked after these cars in standard form will provide many years of reliable operation. Because if they have had a hard life you will pay dearly. Look for modified exhausts and such, pull of the the turbo inlet pipe and check the turbo shaft for excessive movement front and back as well as sideways movement, as many cars may have been boosted to within an inch of their life previously. Cheers

nice bit of info Impellor, I too prefer the exterior style of the BF, actually the interior as well. I do prefer the new instrument cluster on the FG but that's about it for me. I personally am not after massive power but do plan to add a little bit throughout its life with me. plus it's a Phoon and personally they've always been a bit of a dream car only never been in the position to own one. of any age, til now

There's if even more differences in an FG F6 if that's what your talking about. Bigger injectors, better intercooler, bigger turbo (then the XR's)..

FG's also have have a better intake system, exhaust, suspension, brakes, and sound system over the BF's. But most of that means nothing if your going to modify it.

The best way to look at it is the BF2's have all the important stuff you need and are way cheaper then the FG's which means more money on mods.
