Hey guys so heres the situation im in.

Im 19 nearly 20, getting off my P plates in about 4 months. Live in WA. I dont speed or hoon stupidly (havent been pulled over once) I stick to the speed limits However really enjoy a quick burst every now and then; love a good engine.

Im not Ford or Expensive Daewoo Biased, just want whats best for value. I'm looking into the BF Xr6t ute's.. Just wondering what they are like to drive I.e performance economy looks etc..

I really don't want to buy a car that's frightning to drive altho I have driven the Vz Sv6 and really wasn't satisfied with the performance.

Also don't want a v8 (1. fuel economy 2. insurance 3. target for cops etc).

Any Opinions appreciated :)

If you dont want to target the cops, a turbo may be out as well. An SV6 isnt a power house, so you would be surprised with the turbo ute. They go VERY well. :sungum:

The utes dont ride like a car, or a late Expensive Daewoo ute, as they still have leaf springs instead of coils like Holden.

I have a BA turbo ute, and I like it. Set up correct they are great to drive, and if not hammered will deliver good fuel economy.

Utes don't put the power down like sedans either, especially with a manual. So keep in mind with big KWs it will be too much for you to handle.

As far as comparison to an 8, fuel economy isn't that great, insurance still isn't cheap as its turbocharged, and cops know about xr6t's as they drive them too.

Do you need a ute for work etc?

If not buy a sedan, 3 extra seats is handy!

Take off the Turbo badge, spray your cooler black and you'll be able to fool dumb cops.. Unfortunately most of em can pick the exhaust difference..

Although speaking from experience they do tend to scratch there head a little when u have remived the turbo badge... But im pretty sure the single 3 1/2 gave it away. At the end of the day they can always check your rego on there in car computer. But back to the op. I have a bf ute with the zf and love it it even with the power mine has its not scary as such.

Haha fair enough yeah I should probly do the more sensible thing and just stick to a non turbo'd 6. I'd save money and respect bahaha :P

Oh and I want the ute so for weekender stuff I.e Kiyaks Bikes fishing etc.. Plus not carrying extra mates can be a good thing :)

I have a company van so wont be used for work but getting there and back I'll be using it :)

Haha next question is FG vs VE ute bahaha I think I came to the wrong place for that question :P

Get an insurance quote on a turbo and non turbo for comparison, being young and a newish car, its going to cost alot either way.

If your off your p's and not being a dick the cops won't hassle you either, hopefully. Just mod it tastefully, drive it respectfully.

The FG wins over VE. The 3.6l v6 in the VE is pathetic.

The FG turbo with ZF trans will shame the VE HSV boys too.

But your not a hoon so that doesn't matter...
