Hello all,

I have a couple bottles of Penrite Manual Gear 75 (75W-80) lieing around from my 5speeder and was wondering if they would be suitable for the 6 speed? I realise the transmax z is the ideal oil but Id rather save some coin and use up what ive got first. I mean im not running insane power levels and ive never ever been harsh on the box and more than likely never will be!

Can someone also confirm the amount of oil needed to stop or help the rollover noise. was it around 4Litres?

and lastly would anyone happen to know what bolts I need for the t56 that mount the actual box to the bellhousing itself. Part number or a substitute times how many? even a price if you have that info available.

Thanks for your time guys,

Dave

Im running 70w75 in my 56 at the recommendation of one of the penrite engineers and the shift improvement over Transmax is night and day. Email Penrite and ask them about the 75w80, im pretty sure they list it as being suitable on their website

Ah thanks for that info Ralph, I've emailed penrite but that data sheet basically sums it up and I'm sure they will reply with info quoted from that. We shall see what they say.

4 litres is the ideal amount?

Also anyone know anything about those bolts. I can get them from a hardware store that way. Because I bet ford would force me into prostitution to pay for them otherwise.

4.8L is the correct amount. I normally use about 4.4L. I fill through the fill hole with the correct measured amount. The fill hole is below the filled level, so you have to jack the passengers side up so the full amount of oil can be put in. I use transmax Z as its fully synthetic. Its SAE grade is 0W-20.

Arron MGO 70w75 is also fully synthetic.

malz have a nice little 1 ltr pump bottle that is perfect for fill the g/box. Its graduated so make getting 4.4ltrs in very easy
