What other vehicles did members consider or test drive? B4 Subaru Liberty was the only thing remotely comparable for me .

Maate, it would have to be a WRX.....puts all those overweight taxis to shame and they look great, go real hard At least Ford have got a turbo on the Falcon instead of relying on the V8 (dinosaur) engine

Hang on.....don;t flame me......I only came onto this site to say Hi

I thought I would throw out the bait and see you people bite

A sensible answer to your question is: I ended up with the Mustang but seriously considered an M3 or another E Class Benz. I didn't want to wait for the Alfa 147GTA to finally arrive and the Mustang was good buying considering the factory bonuses from Ford.

(I bought a new WRX back in '99. It was a good car but there are much better things out in the market....I've had one so why buy another)

I originally went to buy a XR8 but after test driving both I settled on the T

mainly because I felt it handled better The GT wasn't available then

I always buy Aussie cars mainly as it helps keeping Aussies in work

Outstanding!!!

Anyway, I went to get an XR8 but I was told there was going to be a 6 month wait, and ONLY a 3 month wait on the Turbo. So I ordered the Turbo and still ended up waiting 6 months for it. I would be happy with either.

I put a order in for a XR8 as well, before they had been released. I then cancelled that order and put my order in on the T. And I havent looked back.

I considered a IS300, B4 Liberty, and some others, but they just didnt suit me.

Plonky Its interesting that you mention the Benz because afriend of mine has a new E320 Avante Garde lowered and has AMG rims.He drove our new XR6T last week and said it was more comfortable faster and great fun to drive. He now has a blood orange XR6t on order!

We were looking at a V8 berlina, and SS Late model camira because at the time the company was only buying Holden. When the rules changed, dad mentioned that he liked the BA XR6, I said to him to get the turbo because he was used to driving the V8 LTD and may be dissapointed by the power of the n/a, so we ordered the T without a test drive and we are extremely happy with it. Wouldn't have it any other way :D

Either an SV8, Monaro CV6, or Late model camira SS. Then I saw the 'new look' VY series  , compared that to the new BA Falcon (:banghead:), noticed the little turbo badge, and that was that .

Although, had the Astra turbo been out at the time, I might have considered that too...

The biggest choices I had to make were what colour and options. As far as I was concerned the XR6T was the only car to consider.

(It had to be and Australian made car for the Novated Lease and I ain't buying a Holden)

Considered BA XR6T, BA XR8, VY SS, CV8, Clubbie, WRX STi, Audi A4 Quattro, Merc 200C AMG.

So why the XR6T: biggest bang for ya buck, lowest cost of ownership, ease & cheapest to modify, availability of the National Fleet Buyers discount, and other stuff I've long since forgotten!!!
