Hi

Just wondering, is a very slight turbo noise at shut down normal or is it something to plan in for maintenance? the shaft has minimal play and looks to be in very good condition.

Cheers

yeah I wouldn't worry about it, but im no expert, if its really irritating you, maybe get your tuner to have a look.

do you let the car idle for a bit before you turn it off?

My BA used to make that noise after short trips with no warm down, doesn't mean it is normal though!

Its every shut down, long trips, short trips, doesnt matter. Yeah its not really irritating but just making sure. Im saving for a cooler kit and if I have to repair turbo that's a fair old chunk outta the budget. Only had it tuned the other day and they didnt say anything about it, but it was very brief as he was heading out as I was heading in.

I let it idle down for about a minute and most of the time its very steady driving.

Both my BA and GT-R make the same noise when the engine is shut down. I'm pretty sure its just the noise coming from bearings in the turbo as it slow's down.
