RAAC Tankie when we had Leopards. So plenty of heavy lifting in confined spaces etc etc.

Then went RAAF Police hated the RAAF and went back to the Army as RACMP Military Police specialising in CPP.

Haha That makes sense then. Not too much marching to ruin all your gains.

Was thinking about going ADG but have to wait until I get all my demerit points back first. Plus need to build up some cardio fitness lol

Things have more than likely changed. But chins, push-ups, sit-ups and 2 to 3 k runs.

Get those squared away and you will be ok.

I have to wait another 14 months regardless as I had knee surgery last December. I know it's ADF policy to knock back anyone until 24 months have passed so it gives me plenty of time to train up for the shuttle/beep test!

That's to get into basic training. Once in an ADG unit it's gets a hell of a lot tougher.

May I suggest 80 push-ups in two minutes ( good ones ) then 100 sit-ups feet held 3 second cadence followed by a 2.4 km run in around the nine minute mark is your real target.

Also on a separate occasion grab a water bottle and walk 15 km. If you can't do this comfortably in around the two hour mark. You will struggle with up to 40 percent of your body weight added in equipment with boots in under 2 h 45 m.

Geez mate sounds like I have to ditch the gym for a pair of runners.

Starting to get OT (might have to make a thread for this) but would being able to comfortably do all that at the entry test be a good leg up on all the others trying to enlist? Or is that the level of fitness most aim for?

Hard to find good info outside of the aus.military site without knowing people that have already gone through the process.

Basic training is a shock to the system. Being unfit is not another thing you need to try and fix in a hectic time.

My advice be fitter above and beyond the entry standards. That way the PT sessions are easy for you and you get some low stress time.
