It will only make his shoulders sorer. If your shoulders get sore from bench your form is fcked. Tuck your elbows more and bench like a man! They'll be able to tell you if your form is the issue and at the same time they'll push you harder so you feel it the next day. If you have honestly tried giving it 100% and it's not working over a longer period of time you need to change your plan of attack. Not everything works for everyone and it's a matter of finding what works best for you.
