Smith machine is also good for guys that train on their own, when you fail you can just lock out.

Smith Machine is not for benching on. It will only make his shoulders sorer. If your shoulders get sore from bench your form is fcked.

Tuck your elbows more and bench like a man!

Search for "So you think you can bench" on YouTube by EliteFTS. Dave Tate shows how to set up and bench properly. There's a few parts to it but well worth a watch.

Don't be disheartened about not being able to bench much mate, we all started somewhere. It took me ages to get to a single 100kg bench but know I can do 4 sets of 10 at a 100.

You should try a PT for a few weeks Trent. They'll be able to tell you if your form is the issue and at the same time they'll push you harder so you feel it the next day.

If you have honestly tried giving it 100% and it's not working over a longer period of time you need to change your plan of attack. Not everything works for everyone and it's a matter of finding what works best for you.

Some genius once said insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
