I wasn't hating on anyone. On the contrary where I studied my double degree I was taught to be objective and it's my right not to agreed with everything I'm told. Even "EVEN" if stiflr was able to put on a lean 20kgs of muscle in 14 months "naturally", which if it is true he should be on an Olympia stage, 99% of people shouldn't expect to get anywhere near the same results. I would say 5kgs of lean muscle naturally per year would be the upper limit and that's if you tick all the boxes (diet, rest, training). I wasn't being smart about asking for a pic either. I didn't think this was unreasonable especially for someone who's been in a competition as I would think they would have many. If you think I'm just going to take someone's word after making such a claim then you need to re-read your own advice. PS I have a masters too - not in health but it teaches you research skills, so take that on board if you plan on doing one. I do like your point though about these forums and how "some" people blindly seek advice from them because they're not able to tell the difference (not speaking about stiflr). It's funny how the guys with educated backgrounds or years of experience (or both) get overlooked in favour of the guy with the "tuff avatar", or the witty comment about a new supplement. I mean they would pay big dollars in gyms, etc for the same advice and it's offered on here for free by guys who want to give up their own personal time to help others. I'm going to take a break from this thread now guys. All the best. As Dorian Yates still says -"train hard"...

Hey Mad,

Honestly, all I wanted to do in this thread was chip in and provide a bit of insight into the world of training, based on my studies and experiences. Unfortunately, there'll always be some people that disagree with your claims or your notions, but sadly that's part of engaging in a topic like this. It is incredibly subjective.

I agree with you that huge 'natural' lean muscle gains are very very rare, but who's to say STIFLR isn't one of a select few out there? If he busted his nut at the gym, ate perfectly balanced meals and 'lived' the gym every day who's to say...? He may have, or he may not have. I'm just going by what I hear.

As an educated man yourself, I'm sure you'd be familiar with the concept of de-training and it's opposite. If someone has been highly training or conditioned in the past, the body is able to significantly re-condition at a rate far faster than someone who has not been previously conditioned. Once again, I don't know STIFLR from a bar of soap, so I can't confirm or deny what he has said over the internet...

I'm not attacking you personally mate... You have to take everything with a grain of salt. I'm not asking you to take what STIFLR said as gospel. It's your right to accept or refute what he has said. And I do know about what's involved in post gradute work - I've been at University since 2004 and have a graduate diploma in Exercise Physiology (Or I will when I graduate mid-year) I've written more research reports than I would have liked...

As I said, I'm not out to bust your chops Mad. All I wanted to do what contribute to a great thread and help the members out with what I have gained from my studies and involvment in the industry.

Thanks guys,

Dan

Like....

I can comfirm NVT, that I have been in pretty good condition for quiet a few years but approx 6 months before I started training for my comp I broke L1 and L5 transverse process on the right and 2,3,4 on the left along with lacerating my spleen. This put me out of action for a while and I lost alot of conditioning.

Then when I was able to train again, I changed gyms and started the contest prep.

I did bust my nut for about 16months, I was getting trained 3-4 times a week, I didnt go out, didnt drink, never missed meal, had regular massages and chiro adjustments, took multiple supps and always did my recovery..

So if your full on dedicated anything is possible
