I would say no. I have one in my gym bag, I only ever use it when I'm going for a PR. even then I've giving it a miss lately.

Handy to have but people count on them to much in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure I've harped on here before about how amazing and beneficial deadlifts are to anyones routine for all round body/core strength increases. Personally I do em without straps/pads/belts but ive got a fairly strong grip and I feel much less restricted not having to belt up. Those lower back DOMS are a lovely reminder that your training is making a difference.

With my program my Lower back/Hamstring day is a little crazy but I usually get it over and done with in about 50mins

2mins rest between each set and its a 6x12x25 super set one straight after the other.

6x160kg 6x170 6x180 6x190 deadlifts

12x85kg 12x90 12x95 12x100 Hamstring curl

25x20kg 25x20 25x20 25x20 kettlebell swings focusing on lower back movement.

6x100kg 6x105 6x107.5 6x110 barbell Shoulder press

12x22kg 12x22 12x22 12x22 kettlebell front shoulder raises

24x10kg 24x10 24x10 24x10 side raises and rear delts (12 each alternating between the 2 per rep)

6x32kg 6x32 6x32 6x32 easy curl bar biceps

12x16kg 12x16 12x16 12x16 hammer curls

25x20kg 25x20 25x20 25x20 reverse curls.

Badaboom done, friggin looks like alot but it ain't cause its all super sets. Im doing 3 days splits 6 days a week with sunday rest day.

This week starting today is a different routine entirely, alot tamer and more basic. I have 3 rotations that I change every 6 days to keep it fresh. I like heavy rotation cause everything's only 6 reps just heavy as hell but yeah it's good fun.

3 weeks in and I seem to be progressing well enough. My only criticism of this routine so far is that there is no lat / biceps compound. I know deads are supposed to be good for your lats but adding in bent over rows or pull ups/chin ups would probably solve this.

With the pads positioned on my thighs the back extension exercise is a great warm up for the glutes and hammys.

Just bought a bottle of Epic Gainz.

Been a while since I got suckered into the hype surrounding a product. Let's hope this sh*t does something.
