Nah mate, I use the rule "If you can't hang onto it it's too heavy"

I do use chalk though and that alone makes a huge difference. Didn't need straps on 240kg, just chalk.

that's a good effort, well done! Same I use chalk, also do use straps on some exercises

I don't use straps on deads but have used them doing heavy dumbell rows though. I use farmers walks etc to increase grip strength. Even assistance work (say 5x10 at 120 for deads) is great for grip strength.

Today was tough, feeling a bit weak after a crappy nights sleep (damn kids!) so only managed the 5x160, 5x170 and 5x180 deads in my program. Tried for a single at 220kg but failed.

Next time gadget!

Bad luck mate. What rest periods do you have between sets?

Had my first sesh back at the Righouse last night in 4.5 weeks. Felt like a first timer with the weights I was lifting and bloody sore already!!

Im really loving lifting weights. have seen more results in a month of weight lifting than I have in a year of the cardio stuff I was doing.

Makes going to the gym more enjoyable. Just a shame it hurts so much to walk for a few days after doing legs.

Since I lift at lunch in the work gym I only have 45mins to get through my main lifts and assistance lifts so not much break at all between lifts. 3 mins at best I'd say.
