fastfwd Member 103 Member For: 13y 18d Posted 16/12/11 03:20 AM Author Share Posted 16/12/11 03:20 AM So I been driving the car in limp mode since last thursday, Nuford said it would be fine to drive it daily until I get the cat fixed. As far as I was aware limp mode doesnt cause any issues to the car, just drives like a dog.So I been driving it quite slow the last week. Yesterday coming home from work I was driving down the freeway and in the space of 10km/s the car got slower and slower until it didnt have enough in it to keep the revs up and I had to pull over. It feels exactly like a timing issue but not. I cant rev it over 3k until it feels like it boggs down and wants to stall. Is there different types of limp modes on these engines? The car starts and idles fine, you wouldnt know there was something wrong with it until u accelerate. Alot of intake noise as if its stuggling.Probably could have driven 60k's all the way home but to be safe I got it towed home.Any idea's?

fastfwd Member 103 Member For: 13y 18d Posted 16/12/11 10:41 AM Author Share Posted 16/12/11 10:41 AM (edited) Wow so I got under the car today remove the cat and unclog the mess it has made so I can make my car drivable again and what do I find....the cat is welded to the exhaust. This is the 2nd dumbest thing ive seen working on this car.1st the turbo oil feed filter which isnt easily accessable and isnt easily interchangable which is deffinatly should be = the reason I blew my turbo a few weeks ago2nd the cat being welded to the exhaust. Wtf is that sh1t. parts that need to be changed easily arnt. Ford trying to make any buck off you they can. I can just see it now...exec's and designers coming up with the plans to make more money off the consumer after they drive it off the lot. "we will weld the cat converter to the exhaust so it isnt easily interchangeable and then when the driver comes to get his cat replaced we will charge him $1750"sorry for the rant...needed to get it out of my system.
