+1.

Most (lucky) drivers of Veyron's claim it doesn't feel close to as fast as it goes (unbelievable figures) - linear performance is best for the street.

ps: my first car was a Subary RS turbo - that thing nearly snapped my neck off with its ridiculous performance curve, but felt bloody fast though......ha ha)

an auto should see you a mid 12 at worst. Good way to test how fast or otherwise.

Was a little while ago but 270 rwkw was considered a rocket ship.

Will depend on the base you are starting with.

BA 4 spd made 175 rwkw stock 251 with injectors zorst and tune ( 12s all day)

BA M6 Phoon made 212 rwkw stock

BF A6 Phoon 228 rwkw

so yeah go figure, give Simon a call would be a good start.

That said 12s hardly a disgrace against most cars on the road

Hi

Yeah there's alot of valid points there in regards to weather and he knew I was from there so he probably wouldve taken that all into account, it does actually move fairly quick once on boost, just doesn't feel like it I suppose. It's only 270 odd kws so it's no rocket ship. I have Goodyear eagle f1 assymetric 2 tyres so they would help wheel spin issues too I suppose? I've had fairly little time to thrash it and the more I do the more used to it I get, re learning to drive it.

Yep, the goodyears will be holding wheel spin at bay ( a very good thing imo), I am on my second set now, and get wheel spin in first on boost if I mash it, but second on is all grip, no spin . My 95 tune is 280 rwkw, 850nm, with no cats, so with a cat and hot temps I think your about right.

I have the same rwkw as yours but mines a BA auto and is also pretty docile down low.2000rpm where the torque starts to come on and at 3000rpm I have 880nm. My car does tends to break traction at about 3000rpm in first when I have the foot planted but if I just plant it off the line it sort of builds slowly which I dont mind. If I want a tyre smoking take off I stall it up and bam I have it. Overtaking mine is a weapon

Doesn't feel fast cause it's suppose to run on 98 as a minimum, 95 octane means there is stuff all timing in the tune, so what Simon has done, is infact to make your engine last because of the lower octane fuel.

No Simon has tuned the car too suit the owners needs. The owner lives 1200+ km's from Perth good reliable fuel sources dont exist up there.

I hardly see this thread as whinning and FWIW Typhoons (and Xr6t's) are tuned for 95RON from the factory.

I should of said mines tuned to 98ron and I wanted mine to be a very safe tune so the tuner didnt put a heap of timing into it which is what I wanted, he has said if I want more he can put more timing in but Im happy with it.

Is there such a thing as a "very safe" tune above 300rwkw? (surely they are all stress a stock engine/transmission etc regardless of what tune/ron/curve)

Bit like saying there is such a thing as a "very safe" prostitute......lol

There would be a lot of safe margins in the tune that the tuner would have taken into consideration. Unpredictable fuel quality up north and the heat are two major factors.
