Thanks heaps for the opinions guys, I suppose I dont really live in the best environment for extreme tunes. especially considering its coming into summer and fuel suppliers up here are known for poor quality fuels. havnt really had a day below 35 to test it out yet. I put my faith in XFT that they have done the most suited tune to my needs. Because of the fuel and temps up here it would have bugger all timing and only ran 11psi. Driveability is great, the flutter is addictive and fuel ecconomy is good. I think I was just expecting more WOW at first. comparing to stock while overtaking road trains by the time I got to the prime mover it would be around 160kmh, now by the time im up to the back of the first trailer im backing off because im up around 160/170 so it is quicker by a fair bit. The biggest thing I wasnt happy with is boost building in 3rd from 120, feels very slow and laggy and by the time boost is up its getting too quick to appreciate on the street. Ive only ever really taken notice of truck boost gauges mostly on old cummins where it just pings from vac to full boost so that's a chalk and cheese comparison, ive never owned a turbo'd car before or had much to do with them. all in all I wouldnt have anything else.

Is there such a thing as a "very safe" tune above 300rwkw? (surely they are all stress a stock engine/transmission etc regardless of what tune/ron/curve)

Bit like saying there is such a thing as a "very safe" prostitute......lol

True but with minimal timing and boost and and no where near 300rwkw its fairly safe and having a quality tuner helps.

The fuel and extra heat of the north west will definatly be hurting it and I think Simons done the right thing by tuning it the way he has, you'd be alot more disappointed if ya busted an engine than bein a touch soft.

I'll be back up to port hedland early in January so may even see ya around

Yea mate, If ya see a mercury silver BF foon that'll be mine! there are very few turbo falcons up here, I can count all the f6's ive seen on one hand. What brings ya this way?

A mate sort of went through the same thing, he wasn't really happy with the power he got after a tune. He hadn't done valve springs though, so it made even less power.

I suggest you do an apples to apples comparison. Load the stock tune (assuming you have a flash box), drive how you used to, change back. That's the only true way to see just how much of an improvement has been made. Be warned, with an X3, it will take a while to change tunes.

Needless to say my mate did just that, reloaded his 10psi tune, and hasn't changed back yet.

..... with ID1000s and a 5" venom cat ...

Wouldn't flashing it back to stock trigger Limp mode? Then I guess the 11psi tune would seem awesome compared to that!

sounds low- most ive seen had 185 (low)- 210 (higher end). mine had 210 as had many others.

+1.

My BA auto came with a dyno figure of 204rwkw stock with 80ks...........if its 175 then the car had something wrong with it and there is CERTAINLY NOT 45rwkw difference stock BA Phoon to stock BAT.

So on topic, I would ignore that advice in terms of what base to start with and what should feel fast between BA/BF/FG!!!!

I had a 95ron tune in my xr6t it made 302rwkw in central qld (hot as f*ck), took it back when 98 became available in my town and a retune saw 320ish...so their is a little difference between the two.
