Ive got two questions regarding turbo replacement. Firstly, how long does it take, and have any of you had it done by a workshop? And what was the cost?

Second part of question is ive been offered a replacement but it has the wastegate modified and 12psi actuator. can I use this on a std set up, and will it work just like the stock one?

Thanks

You can bolt it on but the car will need to be tuned.

There's info in the turbo worksop, sticky up the top re: removal.

For a workshop cost not sure, need to get mine changed too though so would be keen to know. Probably cheaper to go to a workshop that's familiar with the xr6t as they'll probably do a better job and quicker.

My problem is my top two studs have stuffed nuts, can't get a spanner on, and I have 2 16mm bolts on the bottom, can't get to the front one near the actuator bracket. Going to pull the whole manifold and replace all gaskets and bolts/studs, then won't need touching ever again, I hope.

Replacement standard turbo is fine unless you want more power. Mine isn't stuffed, I just managed to get a modified/rebuilt one cheap, hence no rush to change it (except it keeps coming loose)
