Okay so I have a ba xr6 turbo running 300rwkw@12psi. I am wondering how much roughy have you guys spent on putting a ba/f f6 bottom end in. The motor it's got in it now Is running fine I'm just always stressing about it breaking. I'll eventually want around 350kw and that will do me. So just curious on how much you guys have spent doing this. Any info would be great cheers

Its around $3,000 for an F6 short motor, plus R&R engine, strip, and change over all parts, gaskets etc.

I would say around $6-7,000 all up. that's providing there is nothing else wrong with your engine.

Your cylinder head would need doing up, and other possible repairs(turbo maybe)

I have just done my ute, engine blew, and I fitted a new F6 long motor. I needed quite a few parts, that's why I went with the long.

Had turbo rebuilt, new radiator, all new belts, and hoses.

Dont ask on the total price :hang:

mother of Mary that's alot of money. Looks like I'll be sticking with the ba bottom end for a while than. I wish it was as easy as putting in some stronger rods and be on your way but that's cars for you I guess :/

Mate, take my word for it, that's the cheap option. If you blow your engine, start saving big time.

You will spend more than $3,000 building a strong bottom end, as well as all the other bits that will get broken if it blows.

Some get away with running the standard bottom, but eventually it is going to pop.

How many ks on your engine?

It's got 135xxx on it. So it's not tooo bad. And it's been running 300kw for a year now perfectly. But of course I wouldn't mind a little more. I see the guys in here running 330+ with the ba bottom end but I don't wanna risk it. So what your saying is I'd be better to beef up the bottom end in it now than get a f6 one? Cheers

Should have just bought BF F6 short...

What are you putting "up top"? I'm assuming valve springs as anything else would be overkill...

Running 10-12psi won't last long...

I think it can be done for less then 7-8k, I'd do some more research before you rule it out.

Why woulndt it last long then running that?.

Rebuilt BA Short motor with BF conrod upgrade

- Bigger injectors 440cc

- Competition gasket set(full engine's worth)

- Head stud kit

- Billet gear oil pump

- H/D valvesprings

- H/D timing chain

Should handle the power easily.
