In all honesty mate the amount you lose on a change over will likely be less than the total cost of replacing the box etc, 6k on a ba that still requires a new engine for your long term goal and 10 year old suspension and you see where im going here. I had your exact problem my t5 clutch went and I agonized over what to do, I ended up putting an exedy HD for 1100 fitted, that was 12 months ago and its still going good, but I don't boot it too hard these days, I had dreams of big numbers when I first got this thing but realised quickly that the ease of just starting with a manual BFII is the best path.

Yeah that is very true, I enjoy accomplishing things myself. and I enjoy this car for what it is.. custom paint and the rest. The long term goal is very far in the future, I might even get a bf11 engine to start with. I really dont know. but right now I know I would like to keep the car.. and I know something needs to be done about the current problem. so im weighing the option with all 3rd party input provided and making a decision on what I should do.. hey oneday these will be classics. why not hold onto it right :P

And people are forgetting I cant really sell the car with a buggered clutch anyway. If the car was in perfect working order having depreciated as much as it has I would still be in debt because of the dreaded interest.

Still though thanks for the input people. keep it coming.

Did the first owner get the T5z put in? They're suppose to be a bit better then the T5 aren't they?

Cheapest way to get to 400 later on down the track is unload it and buy a BF2.

I know you don't want to but you will save allot of money this way.

Im pretty sure the t5z is in the Turbos with some sort of internal parts being carbon something something and the T5 box is pre BA and also in the BA N/As

As far as I know the T5z was in the XR8 and the run of the mill T5 was in the turbo's.

I sold my 5 speed ba because it really wasn't worth upgrading your just throwing money away. But if your not in a rush you might be able to slowly acquire second hand gear for a reasonable price?
