I am for one, able to say that the BMC CDA gives immediate performance improvements when installed.  I fitted it into my stock XR6 (before the exhaust work, chip and eventually turbo) and I could feel the improvement in engine response, sort of sharper in throttle response.  In terms of power increase, you should be looking at around the 10-15kw range (dynoed).  Lets leave it at 10kw to be on the pessimistic side, don't wanna get flamed if someone fits one and gets less

So the verdict is, go for it!  The best I've ever seen.

I am very sceptical about this type of product. 10kw dynoed you say. So that’s 30kw at the fly which is about 12% power increase. Assuming that the XR6 was not the Barra240 then say 183kw, then an extra 10kw at the wheels is about 17% increase. Smells like BS to me.

Lets see this product on the dyno, or it will go the way of snake oil and Zet turbos?

10kw at the wheels does not equal 30kw at the fly.

Hello people

Now I have my XR6T the first thing I have done is rip out the std airbox and replace it with the BMC Air Filter

I haven't dynoed it yet to check for and increase but it does feel more responsive and definatly have a loud whoooooooooosh sound from the BOV.

Here is a pic of the installation soon will have dyno sheets.

It will be interesting to see how this product goes on the dyno in relation to heat soak, traditionally the engine will produce less horsepower on a second dyno run. (as I am sure you all know) But it will be good to see the severity of the power loss and the effectiveness of a carbon fibre heat shield.

I can't see the point in doing these changes for 10 - 15 killowatts. If u save $1,500.00 you can see some real gains without making your car sound like a droning prostitute. A stage 1 chip will for an auto increase your real wheel horsepower to what is your current flywheel number, or to a lesser amount as nominated by owner. There is huge power numbers available through the stock air intake & exhaust.

Good luck with everyone's ideas but I know where my dollars are to go.

TTFN Scott.

The BMC doesn't look any different to say the RamPOD offered by UNIFILTER. I think the gains to be had with this type of mod tend to be fairly modest (got a rampod fitted to my EFXR6, slight economy gains, cheaper over a few years).

Definately can be some aural improvements though :)

The advantage of the BMC Dynamic Air Box is that it has an inlet and an outlet which can be piped to the existing cold air intake and ducted piping. So no hot air is sucked from around the engine bay. Not like other pods where hot air is drawn in effecting the performance. But lets not get to carried away wait for the dyno test which will tell all tails.
