Hey Guys I recently bought a BFii XR6T ute and am looking to put a Herrod cat back stainless exhaust system on it, but because I'm only new to this whole game I have a couple of questions, so be nice haha. How easy is it to put on myself? Do I need a tune once it's on? what sort of difference will it make, I.e. noise, kw etc? and are there other brands that are good that I should consider?

I found the price for their ss catback waaaayyyyy overpriced, and I fell off my chair when he told me.

so I just got my centre muffler removed for 100 odd bucks.

but no you wont need a tune for a catback. prob wont make any extra kw, and well yer usually and mods to an exhaust in the way of a catback will make some noise.

but you can install a catback yourself if you know what your doing.

I think there was a guy on here who install a full system while his sedan was parked over a gutter. legend.

Just go an x-force mate. Cheap, can get 'em anywhere (even on fleabay) and they make good power. Quality can be a bit hit and miss but nothing that can't be fixed.

I never really understood why people bothered with cat backs, especially on 6's, pretty close to zero performance wise, and personally I think they sound like poo

Get a hiflow cat, injectors and a tune - cheap, would sound sooo much better and go sooo much harder

I have a mate with a high flow cat and tune and his sound level hardly changed at all (still very quiet) - so I'm not sure that's correct? Obviously went much harder though.....

Can't comment on the Herrod, but being the brand no doubt comes with excess $$$.

I have stock exhaust with centre muffler removed, high flow venom cat and it's loudish on idle, not so much cruising but when you jump on it , it howls ! The cat made it a good bit louder too. wouldn't bother with the exhaust unless bigger power is needed and then a 3" isn't what you need (which is what a stock one is on an FG not 100% sure on BF) .

Of course its much louder with centre removed RAB with a high flow cat (its much louder with stock cat also)

I was talking about high flow cat on stock system. I don't think it changes the sound much at all.

All the high flow cats are the same. There is little or no technology in them, its just a filter. Just get a 5inch 100cpi of the cheapest brand you can find, then you will never have to change it.

EBay have them for about $170 delivered (when I nearly bought one, decided against it), venom cat I think it is.
