If we only had E85, then E85 would be "normal" and wouldn't be anything special haha. We need the "lesser" fuels to know how good E85 really is ;)

Firstly the price would probably double, because of simple greed.

Secondly, I expect Ralph Wiggum would get hit up for all manner of assistance considering his post on upgrading his own fuel lines with quick disconnect fittings etc.

I'm pretty sure it was Ralph, I have it favorited at home so I'll post it when I find it.

It may also be this one I'm thinking of, which he has a few posts in:

Lies

It's great for an everyday car

I'd rather support Aussie farmers and engineers than Saudi princes

The issue is building engines to maximize efficiency

9 to 1 comp Is a waste for e85 for economy wise

12 to 1 is much better especially for everyday duties

Plus modern fuel lines are suited to it

Plus e85 isn't as corrosive as people think

Fact!

lolwut

Due to the total lack of flexfuel compatiabilty in our cars I stand by what I say.

12 to 1 doesn't account for variance in E content.

Also worth noting my F6 lives on E85 but im in no illusions about the drawbacks.

Only issue I've had is that the line got clogged from a poor batch of petrol :(

Edit

Agreed about flex fuel and e content in our cars

I'm talking generally speaking

E85 is a very powerful fuel and the positives far outweigh the negatives for me

What I'm saying is the hardware behind it, especially our cars a lot of the benefit is unused

Have you physically inspected your fuel line since running E85? I'd be willing to bet thry are cracked and dried out.

Even at 12 to 1 comp you can't get around the lower energy content of E85 so not matter how hard you squeeze if your going to need use more of it and the price break just isn't there at the moment and I cannot see that changing if demand goes up.

As a performance fuel I think it's the best thing since sliced christmas cake.
