As mentioned its been tested between e60 and e80 here in the ACT. I'd imagine the tune would have to be backed off quite a bit to compensate for the change in ethanol content? I ended up with black powder chit that destroyed my fuel pump, reg., blocked and in inj. and had to pull out my fuel tank (cradle out) to get it flushed. It may have been the particular servo who knows but... I have had no dramas with eflex to date (touch wood) and will continue to use it. I'm not sure wat your getting in act bellato but everytime I've tested the eflex here it has come up at 73%. Chances are the ethanol loosened up sort and crud in your fuel system and blocked and damaged pump and injectors and filter. When you first convert to e85 you should change fuel filter at bare minimum after the first tank. The spot around exhaust tip could of simply been tune related. But spot around exhaust tip in no way indicated 100% a poorly running car or bad fuel.Interesting though that you've tested it at a consistent 73%. That's smack bang in the middle of the caltex summer/winter mix.Sort/spot = soot.Damn iPhone!!

Have you tested your eflex at all rednose? As mentioned its been tested between e60 and e80 here in the ACT. I'd imagine the tune would have to be backed off quite a bit to compensate for the change in ethanol content?I have tested it on many occasions but only with a test tube (which is not accurate as there is no way that you can take out human error) and I have seen 70 - 73 and on 1 occassion 77, but again AFR's were fine and the car drove fine.It has been on the same dyno multiple times and tune is always spot on.I also emailed caltex a few times and advised of guys reporting fluctuation in ethanol content to which Caltex replied that since introduction of the eflex they have only ever made 1 change that took the ethanol content up from 70 to 71.I will keep using eflex as it has served me well, but anyone that wishes to use this fuel needs to do their homework as just like most things in life there are pros and cons. I might ask to see the tuner's specific data and what he does with his car. He might adjust his tune every month or so to account for changes in the mixThen might send Caltex an email and see what they say. Still 3 months away from being tuned so plenty of time to sort my chit out and decide to run it or not

Mr_4.0 Member 1,096 Member For: 13y 10m 22d Posted 23/04/13 11:10 PM Share Posted 23/04/13 11:10 PM Rednose, caltex are telling you fibs. It's common knowledge that caltex change their ethanol content in winter and in summer. In winter they take ethanol out to aid cold starts. It's much more than a 1% difference year round. For them to tell you it's only ever changed 1% is a blatant lie.United e85 is very consistent. No it's not e85. It's actually closer to e90. But consistent.
