Why can uniteds ethanol content be as high as 90%........... What a load of chit!

Why do you need it as high as 90%?

Pretty sure the Caltex stuff will give you the power increase you need and may even be better for your fuel system

Mick I have never used the United so cannot comment, I have tested the caltex plenty of times and have always seen it between 70 - 73 and the variance may be an error on my part.

This is why I have purchased the Zeitronix and will fit it as soon as I get a chance.

I have been using the Caltex e-flex for almost a year and my car has never had a problem with this fuel.

I am not defending Caltex and am just putting information I came across in this thread as I beleive it is relevant.

I just hope it keeps being as consistant as it has been where I fill up.

Not a brand comment at all on my behalf, It's just the test tube tester that I have used reads higher than the electronic testers that I have used, which is correct? who knows, but have only tried them on E85

Anyone noticed there oil isnt as dark when doing a service since the switch to eflex/e85?

Mines gone from being.. well blackish when doing the finger swipe to now a reddish gold after

8000kms.

I test the eflex and continue to get 70-73% but yeh the variance could be human error.

Thanx for the heads up about the possible change in ethanol content this month Rednose.... can't say that I check every time I fill up but will from now. Be sure to post if anything changes.

No worries and I agree with the human error, I think I saw 75 once but like I said before I have never felt a difference in my car and my afr at WOT has not changed.

In regards to the oil mine has not changed, what type of oil do you use and is it recommended for use with ethanol?
