There must be times when they've been astounded by what some will do to avoid detection, not just some temporary Australian on an F1 11 disguised as a Jap bike. Of course I'm not wanting them to reveal details that might repeat on them through the hierarchy, I'm just certain there'd be some cool tales here.Scotty Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/7791-ommision-of-inadaquecy/ Share on other sites

Motorcycles are the hard ones however I caught a "busa" the other day over a 120 k stretch. His words in the interview " I wasnt thinking and I couldnt tell myself to stay off the throttle but when I saw the pursuit car I sh$t (the "T" of course, mind you he made me look like a hyundai in a straight line). I kept with him the best I could till his tank sucked dry then did a flying leap taking of the bike when he stalled. Its all about composure and not getting tunnel vision. There will always be the ones that get away however no one is as fast as a radio transmission and good communcation is vital. If it is the latter, I am sure the officer's recommendations are what the final decision is based upon?interested... Even though they aren't there whilst it is occurring the officer calling the chase is giving the DOI a word picture as to what is happening. If the DOI considers that it is too dangerous then he terminates.A Duty Officer (another waste of taxpayers money...the same job used to be done by a Sergeant) is the Superintendents (another Peter Ryan FUBAR decision...they do the same job as what an Inspector used to such as run Police Commands) reprentative. Both the D.O and the Superintendent (Local Area Commander) can allow or terminate a pursuit, especially if they are actually working at night time (they even have torches in their cars) Generally they don't work at night because it is too scary. All in all, the pursuit can be terminated (and usually is) by people that are not actually involved in the pursuit. This they do because:there is potential to have accident damage which costs moneysomeone might get arrestedsomeone might complainif something goes wrong (acco and person is killed or seriously injured) they might get the blame for not terminating the pursuit.Basically you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.There is another way that the Jellyfish Alley (Police management) can avoid pursuits and that is to supply each Police Station with a Category 4 car as the Primary Vehicle for day to day operations. These are classified as to be used ONLY for Urgent Duty and not for pursuits. You see these cars everywhere....Expensive Daewoo Rodeo's, Nissan Patrols, partially marked wagons, Landcruisers.Another thing is to have mass recruitment to fill the exodous of experienced Police and when they leave Goulburn they have not completed their High Speed Response course. Therefore they cannot engage in Pursuit OR Urgent Duty.If you consider that the majority of Police have less than 3 years service you can see that not many are even trained to drive. There is a massive backlog on Silver Response Courses and the Driving School is running 16 hours per day, 7 days per week to try and get these people trained.TJF? You bet it is! The oxygen thief was driving a 351 and I was in an unmarked XR8. Still got him though! There have been quite a number of good ones, generally they are too complex to go into, but suffice to say, I've been rammed on a number of occasions but only had one collision and that was back in 1988.They're very dangerous, the offender will do anything to get away, but it is all about staying calm, relying upon skill and training and not getting tunnel vision.
