Most OEM systems would struggle with this kind of flow.

I would say that you are better off with the stock air box because at least with the snorkle, it will be picking up fresh air most of the time, even idling with a slight breeze into the front of the car. With a aftermarket panel, there are heaps of holes to suck hot air in from the engine bay.I wouldn't worry about laminar flow. Whilst was that tuner said is probably true, the real world effect is minimal. What is most important about a good CAI is when you are at detonation limits. The CAI will give you a little bit more of a buffer. When you are at the detonation limit you want to get rid as much intake piping in the engine bay and try and install the filter in the drivers side guard and relocate the battery on the otherside. THen I think its a worthwhile mod. Otherwise just leave it as the factory made it.

(not a dig, just curious)Nup just a tuner. Facts are facts either way.

My testing was never fully conclusive and reserved for my WRX but I think rational thought also has a place.

Under Stainless intake I think.

So I'm guessing it picked up a little from it.

I don't doubt that removing 1.5m of piping is going to improve flow through the whole system! What would have been more interesting is if they had connected the OEM airbox on the short side. Anyway, this did nothing to prove whether the OEM airbox is a restriction, just that the entire OEM intake system is a restriction. Is installing better piping and filter while utilising the OEM inlet tract going to make much difference? I don't think so.
