I usually don't have much to say but tailgaters hit a nerve with me.

I would guarantee at least twice a week on my way to work in my neighbourhood streets I would encounter a tailgater and it's usually the mums taking their kiddies to school in their 4WD's. I just can't believe the disregard these people have for the 50kph limit in the back streets particularly on my route as it's loaded with bus stops with schoolies.

Anyway one a few mornings I encountered this particular Mazda 323 being very aggressive to the point where she gave me the horn once in the 50kph zone right infront of a bus stop with about 15 kids waiting. The following morning she was at it again and this morning I'd had enough. I let her pass as we left my part of the neighbourhood I proceeded to follow her where she entered into another backstreet section but has no pedestrian access. So I decided to give her a bit of her own back and planted right up her arse, I reackon all she could see in here rear view mirror was my angry looking T, I could see she was understanding what was taking place and was panicking so I backed off and let her go. She proceeded to take off and I couldn't believe what I witnessed next, she was tailgating a guy on a motorbike and you could tell he wasn't impressed. So they come to a stop at a red light the guy gets off his bike and has some words with the lady when all of a sudden he puts the boot into her door then proceeds to do the same to every door on the car then got back on his bike and took off with a grin giving her the finger. My mate rides a bike and if someone tailgates or cuts him off he punches they're side mirror off if they stop . Carbon fibre knuckles on the gloves sure are handy

You blokes are doing it all wrong, don't brake test them last thing you really want is for them to hit your rear end, insurance or not. When there close just flick on your headlights, they think you just hit your brakes as your rear lights turn on and they brake instantly thinking you hit your brakes. Then you just drive into the sunset, or just go even slower than your doing as as they go to overtake you speed up so they cannot pass when they slow down you slow down, they speed up you speed up. Hopefully they can never get back into there lane and a truck coming the other end.

I don't think anyone would get tail lights confused with brake lights.

The light in the spoiler not coming on wouldn't help.

yes I can vouch for the head lights trick. it definitely works, only during the day though. the tailgaters I particularly hate though are the interstate truckers that you meet out bush just on dusk when your trying to make it to the next town with out running into a big roo. they dont slow down for the wild life because they have giant bull bars but you in your little car are scared stiff and going slow.

Great thread OP, im with Spic, my most hated driving experience.

Headlight trick doesn't work IMO, but slamming the brakes on does. Had a big dent and heavy scratches (from road bikes from previous owner I think) in my T five years back when I bought him and after three "brake/lights/waving etc" warnings after doing in 90 in an 80 zone (no passing), I decided enough was enough, when it was safe and no oncoming traffic, slammed on in front of new landcruiser (lady driver of course.....).

Tried to take it to Supreme Court of Tas (after losing at Magistrates badly....easily argued I saw an animal as I'm a lawyer) and when realised "rear hit means at fault" - brilliant new bumper and rear quarters/wing for me - doubt she would be so stupid again. Only another billion people to go.......... :dwarf:

Im not a fan of braking to hard as I don't an accident but I don't mind pulling up to s complete stop if I have to just to get them off my arse.

I got cut off pretty bad on the freeway the other day, I only had to go two exits up but I travelled alongside this *beep* for quite a few suburbs out of mh way just to keep him in the right lane of the freeway, the whole time he had his indicator on trying to merge back, - at one point he almost stopped but of course so did I, funny thing was I think he thought he could out accelerate me when he went again

Haha that would of been piss funny to watch, I hate tailgaters and seem to cop allot more since I put my plates on :dontknow:

Must admit though the only time I do it is on the freeway when some idiot sits in the right lane under the limit not overtaking anyone, god that gets on my nerves.
