Only for the wrong reasons :(

It took me nearly 10 minutes to start the dank mobeele last night, and even when it did start ran like a chauff cutter. I switched it off and back on again and this time it started like it normally does but still very rough.

Rang ford roadside assistance (who were great by the way) and they told me not to do anything, they would send out a tow truck.

Of course the Expensive Daewoo supporters at work loved this. I'm still getting ribbed right now as I write this.

Well after all the humiliation last night I got my sister to drive me to work and low and behold I drive past the dank beastie. Rang Hillis ford who then said that they had no trouble starting the car this morning.... Must have been sh*t in the VCT and with all my cranky cranking last night may have worked it all back into the oil filter. No codes at all.

Oh well sh!t happens, and I'm happy to have my beloved back now.

All's well that ends well.

Dankmobiles back on track, that's all that matters,

It must be something about Expensive Daewoo drivers,Got a good start on a bloke at work in his CV8 and beat him up to 100k's where I backed off and all I get all day is Wanna have another drag this arvo.Since I ride my bike to work I always say "how much" and then he realises I haven't got the car so it's "when you bringing your car in again"

I'll wait till I get the kit put on then shove it where the sun don't shine

Hey dankman,

remind 'em of some of their bigger moments, POLARIZER, Lion will roar in '84, RTS, 253 Plastic motor, best Commy being Nissan powered, all 300 versions of their straight 6 being flicked for Imported buick V6 engines. There's so many more to choose from. WANKERS the lot of them.

Ive had two instances of not starting properly in the last few weeks. It was after (but might not be related to) they fixed my cam shaft pulley and belt.

Im dropping my car in tomorrow to be looked at for this and a couple of things.

The signs I had re starting were: took about 10 separate attempts to start it. Either completely dead (crakned over but seemingly no spark) or else one or two cylinders caught for a fraction of a second and then it coughed and died straight away.

When I eventually got it started it sounded like it was running on 2 or 3 cylinders. Rough as hell. The ECU struggled to keep it alive but within about 30 seconds idle was normal and the car worked fine from then on.

No pattern of when it occurs (once car was hot, the other engine had sat for 7 hours).

Hopefully they will find something tomorrow when they look at it. But knowing murphy's law they will take a look and say it all works fine!

that's pretty much what I had.

It's back in the shop this morning again, fortunately not for anything like that. *whew*

Disks being replaced/machined and the 'fix' and a noise suppressor being fitted to the alternator.

I do hope for a set of replacement disks more than a machining. 10110 on the clock when I dropped her off.

hahahahhaaaaa

I do know of about 4 or 5 rebuilds those guys have had. Wonder if they would eat humble pie?

Thanks for the support guys. This site has been an absolute godsend looking for information. The service guy looked puzzled when it seemed I knew more than he did about those problems. Top work

Dankman,

How do you find the service at Hillis? My uncle works there selling Ford Credit, so the opportunity may arise for me to buy my XR there. Happy with the service dept?
