Guest harasn Guests Posted 29/01/03 11:18 PM Share Posted 29/01/03 11:18 PM Its pretty sad that people are already stcking these things! From my experience, I have found that if your smooth you wont get the car to let go in a hurry, but if your an idiot behind the wheel, with the power even a base BA has, it will bite you. My BA NA XR6 in manual doesn't have LSD and I feel it should have as its easy to get wheel spin in the wet, even with the good 17" tyres. I know some of you havn't seen rain since you picked up your BA's but we have seen alittle in geelong. I like the idea of all people doing an advanced driving course when they get a car as it teaches them what to do if something goes wrong. Although some people get stupid when they have done the courses as they think they are invincable. Good to see if you by an FPV car you get a "free" driving course! cvanxr Member 502 Member For: 22y 1m 30d Location: Country NSW Posted 30/01/03 12:46 AM Share Posted 30/01/03 12:46 AM Had a minor altercation myself yesterday. I live in country nsw and was travelling on a reasonably quiet road. Due to the drought lots of cattle are out with drovers on edge of roads. These drovers just left their stock on the road making no attempt to move them. As I crawled through them I just brushed the back off a b*tch of a cow. She replied by kicking the front left hand side of my spoiler, (this being a hollow piece of plastic made a loud thump noise and I thought the bumper would be hanging off). After much swearing and cursing the bloody walking hamburger I pulled over to inspect the damage. Relieved to see only a tiny chip in the paint. Oh and some cowsh*t, or was it bull sh*t? Just thought I would share it for our city people. Driving in the country can be a dangerous activity

Glad to hear it is just a scratch. We have different hazards in the city.My two accidents in the city involve a pushbike courier and parking too close to a kerb. Ouch. Guest JESMAL Guests Posted 30/01/03 01:52 AM Share Posted 30/01/03 01:52 AM Harasn, I agree about the LSD issue. The first time when I got my turbocgarged XR back from the modshop, I was dirivng along a wet and drizzly Dandenong Rd. At the lights, I gave it a gentle push and it was only at about 3000rpm when it started making donuts...yes....donuts (2.5 round in fact). Lucky for me, I was the only guy at the lights so it felt kinda cool, sort of like the summernats kinda sensation. These days when I give the "b**ch" a squirt on dry roads, I notice I can take off pretty well (with minor wheel spin) but if I push it hard enough, wheel spin occurs at second and sometimes even third gear. The good thing is that the vehicle stays straight and doesn't fish-tail or anything. You should see the look on the SS or Monaro drivers' faces when they see me launch and hear the WHOOOOSSSH sound that comes shortly after :D Messed with the wrong car again! Posted 30/01/03 04:23 AM Share Posted 30/01/03 04:23 AM My friend works for state emergency sevices and got a call to the great ocean road near lorne where a xr6t was written off. The driver was sent to hospital with minor injuries and two passengers walk away un harmed. My friend ask the driver whos car it was and he said it was his dad's car. Its only two weeks old and my parents went away on a holidays. My dad knos I took the car but doesn't know I stacked it. Least everyone was ok.Hate to tell my old man that I killed his car. Too all owners these cars are not toys and are very easy to get out of shape on the road so try not to be rally car drivers. Just remember you share the road with others not by yourself. Beleive me I learnt the hard way and after few loss of licence im sure you will releizeI'm currently in Sydney (Manly) on holidays. with a 19yr old daughter and 17 yr old son back home I took the precaution of taking the "T" to my mums farm 50k north of Perth and locking it in the farm shed with a sheet over it. I'm just protecting the kids from themselves.I remembered Russel Coights quote - "you should forsee problems and deal with them before they become problems that have to be dealt with"I thought I would see XR6T's lined up at the lights over here, but so far I've seen one

But your car does have a LSD - a non LSD equipped car will not do this as it simple stays on the spot and basically goes mental spinning the wheel with least grip. So in the hands of a luney probably the open diff car is safer as it can not be provoked into power oversteer. Of course it can still be spun out simply by too high an entry speed into a corner and braking too late, but this is not I believe the scenario you were painting.and harasn, as a test driver you would have experienced this so I don't fully understand the argument you put forward in the post JESMAL referred to .... More testing required?Anyway good advice have fun but be careful. You wanna take a good look at the new XR8's that are being delivered.some have had 100+ kms on the clock?!?! Not good!! yeah well we just a pair a of NA XR6s in on wednesday for 'roofs and they had only 12 and 17km on the clock....(they were both truck to and from the workshop)....where as the 2 Turbos we've had in have had at least 30km on the clock and one of them we had to pick up and deliver from Lilydale (to hawthorn)..... btw we couldn't fang it though the boss was following in his VX (would have only taken about half throttle to loose him!!! bahahahaha)Dave. I have a 18 year old son, I won't let him drive the car when it arrives. If we go away, I'll lock it and take the keys with me.Mind you he knows where the keys to the Ducati are. He also knows it would be the last thing he would do before I killed him myself if he took that bike out for a fang.
