Zf 6 Speed Tune

Mine farts now when changing gears under full load, will let you know if the ZF tune removes this:)

I already asked my tuner to go easy with the Drive profile tune, and concentrate on the Performance mode for quick changes

Will also let you know if its gets rid of the annoying jolt pulling up to the lights going back to 1st gear!!!

Whats the opinion on the initial tune for the box? is the first go really that bad that it needs to go back to get touched up or is it more peoples preference and driving styles? im only asking because I was planning on getting the ZF tuned but its a 3800km round trip if I need it touched up......... but I really want it......

a fair few zf's with tunes seem to be destroying input shafts.....

How many? How much power they running?

To be honest, I wouldn't bother with the ZF tune especially if you have to drive that far to fix things up if you didn't like it..

It is funny how as soon as the ZF tune became available, there has been a number of shops advertising billet input shafts... You don't have to be a rocket scientist to put 2 and 2 together.. :)

you have put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

Yes the tune can make the car shift harder which can lead to input shaft damage, it can also turn off torque management requestor, but that has always been able to turn off by turning off the cause of the torque management.

Fact is there have been quite a few cars that have broken input shafts before the tuning was available and there have been stronger input shafts available for quite a few years now.

it is the power of the engine which breaks the shaft, but combined with traction or lack of it which will have the greatest affect on how long it may last for, doughy shifts will take some of the load off the shaft but then clutches/bands suffer

Is the input shaft easier to replace (cheaper labour wise) than the clutches and bands? Does it just slide in externally?

With a stronger shaft won't other stuff then break? Also is it possible to leave the torque restriction on for drive but remove it for performance mode?
