Wow, loving these replies everyone! wishing I could post more but, apparantly I have 3 posts left after this one until tomorrow :o

Henz: Seems like they can make quite a bit of power very easily. But, with the extra weight, I suppose it would be slower than a jap car with that power.

PookeyMaster: so, the ZF box will let you shift manually, but the 4 speed wont? whats the quick shift in the 4 speed do? or are both quick shift's completely different? I've just seen photos of the 4 speed's and seen the 4 speeds look like they have the quick shift option to the left of Drive,Reverse etc.

Thanks for the KW and HP talk, that helps heaps! :) if the ZF box is the only one with a good proper quick shift, then, im keen. But I may have to look interstate as suggested a bit.

1600dave: yeah, I think it will be a lot different coming from a silvia that doesnt really make a whole lot of power. The XR6T's would also have more engine power wouldnt they? where as I was driving the silvia daily on 14psi, and probably boosting to 8 or so just to get up a hill.

Are the ZF gear ratios a lot shorter than the BA's 4speed? Does anyone know what each gear revs out to on either/both boxes?

riptide: Yeah, youre right, perhaps I should just save up my mod money and get a BF. Will save money and drama in the long run by the looks of it

Thank you all!

The 4 speed can "quick shift" as you call it by tapping it forward to downshift and back to upshift. I didnt think there was a difference to that with the zf?

in the 4 speed stock you can hit about 80ish in first but I wouldnt reccoment doing that everyday. in the manual I think it says not to exceed 75 in first or something similar. in the six speed it wont go as far in first but its still way way better.

after buying a ba I always think about upgrading to a bf just for the better strength of the engine and gearboxes. Id say if you can get a bf then get one, especially if its the mkII

driving in sequential mode you will obviously have to be quicker on the stick as will rev that bit faster

given the ratios.

ZF sideways at 80ks can be a handful. Manual or auto these things are a proper beasts over 300 rwkw

The Sports Shift in the new Falcon's will hold the gear you select like a manual. So, if you select '3', it will hold third gear and won't go higher or lower. Eventually it will shift one up or down if the revs go to high/low though.

Not sure about that, mine never shifts up in manual mode! It will hit the nasty rev limiter even back when it was stock. It does shift down to prevent stalling of course. Maybe it shifts up gears if you raise RPM slower? Never tested that, the times I've had it hit the limiter I was flat to the floor...

Once you get the car Glen come say hi in WA chat and attend a cruise :)

Edit...actually come say hi in WA chat anyway, no point waiting hahaha.
