Understand our frustration, trying to deal with some people that act like tuners have decided to just stop tuning their boxes, others were given notice that flash 1's would not be supported in the future but they wanted to save money so bought one still and then complained when they could not be tuned, we copped call after call taking up our time, now we will probably go through it again.

For 3 years or more, many people have whinged about the wait for ZF tuning, so it appeared it was wanted, obviously the file size of the tune was going to be quite a bit larger and the internal flash process was going to be different, more comprehensive than the first 2 types of flash boxes could handle.

SCT may not of even been aware that the file size would not work with a Xcal 2, I would assume that would not of even been in their thought process or testing as the X3 has been the current flash box for possibly 3 years (not sure on that time though).

Please do not take this as a defence for SCT, possibly SCT could explain better, this is just my thoughts and experiences, I'm short staffed at work and at this time are booked out until next year with our performance stuff, so do not have time to sit on the phone or forums all day explaining things to people.

Mick .not expecting you to sit on the phone/ forums never suggested you should.

Point is SCT would have known about file sizes in developing the ZF software unless they are morons.

Even a numpty like me would realize that.

The communication/ notice is the issue here. They must have known and were just trying to avoid a shellacking like

Xcal 1 blow up.

Don't like being taken for a mug

What are the odds? Farkin scum.

As if they will, they come on here but never explain themselves.

And as for not big enough? 8 gig usb's are like 20 bux the technology is not expensive, that's a cop out.

Wonder how long till the X3's stop working?

Surely they can still work with the x2. It has for how long already? Adapt the software to realise its flashing a tune for an x2 box and only write engine tune data.

X1 gone, X2 gone, most of us im guessing have an X3 box and are wondering if we are next?

Even with their reasons SCT has been on this forum multiple times but doesnt post about the subject.

that would be easy to do, but SCT are obviously way too greedy and don't care about customers to do this.

I understand and except the business case of needing the xcal3 if you want the ZF tune, however telling people that they can no longer use their current device for further use is just wrong.

Just to clarify, the user "SCT" is registered to Herrod.

They are essentially a protected species elsewhere in forum world, so a bit of backlash on here would hardly even matter to them.

There is very big murmurs from some qtrs to have ECU/ECM's made unalterable. Cars, bikes and trucks. And these unalterable ecu's will be data logging.
