Mr_4.0 Member 1,096 Member For: 14y 3m 27d Posted 11/11/11 10:56 AM Author Share Posted 11/11/11 10:56 AM That is the plan. Car was last tuned by nizpro 2 years ago. Since then I've had a turbo rebuild, surge tank and new dump pipe added. The nizpro tune was altered, all be it quickly, to suit these changes by a guy here in Geelong. I'm guessing my motor is noisier now than 2 years ago and sensor can hear noise. But yes, a full tune is the plan very very very soon Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/77706-disconnecting-knock-sensor/page/3/#findComment-1158748 Share on other sites
rob82 Member 65 Member For: 19y 5m 27d Posted 11/11/11 01:45 PM Share Posted 11/11/11 01:45 PM The idle fluctuation is due to idle proportional spark. It's based off an allowable torque for idle requestor that ramps timing in and out to stabilize the idle. The base idle timing once hot in most cars is referenced from the decel timing map- it should be named "zero apps timing map" the proportional spark is then added to that. This proportional spark is turned off once dashpot idle mode is set - ie above 3mph. As for your high load knock retard I'm yet to see a tuner get this right - it can be achieved thought, even on ba ECM with a built motor and only 1 knock sensor. Mr_4.0 Member 1,096 Member For: 14y 3m 27d Posted 15/11/11 06:00 AM Author Share Posted 15/11/11 06:00 AM Well got a new knock sensor. Left mine in the block. Plugged new one to my loom and cable tied it off. It seems our ecu requires some "noise" to be deemed working so th ecu threw a code. Top end timing was still getting pulled down to 7 degrees even as low as 14psi. So knock sensor is not the issue. My datalogs show intake temp, coolant temp, oil temp and head temp all appear normal. I'm confused. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/77706-disconnecting-knock-sensor/page/3/#findComment-1159854 Share on other sites
Mr_4.0 Member 1,096 Member For: 14y 3m 27d Posted 16/11/11 12:55 AM Author Share Posted 16/11/11 12:55 AM Have been speaking with IH8TOADS. Have found that on full throttle my coolant temp sensor reads zero until I back off accelerator. I checked some logs from months ago and the same thing occurs. This would not help my cause. Anyone have any tricks or tool ideas for changing out coolant temp sensor? I've never attempted one haha.
