Guest WRX03 Guests Posted 02/12/03 12:02 AM Share Posted 02/12/03 12:02 AM High everyone, I just joined the forum and thought I'd give you guys a rass up. I've got an 03 WRX so I guess I would be your arch rival, but before you bite my head off, I think it's great that Ford have come arround to the turbo and realised that there is more to life than V8's.One of my mates is keen on buying an XR6T so I thought I'd have a look at this forum and see what people thought of em, it seem like they are having alot of small teething problems and that the manual box is pretty ordinary. I'll be keen to see if these issues get ironed out with the series 2, but I won't be trading in the rexy in a hurry

You've pretty much hit the nail on the head, a few teething problems and an ordinary gearbox (and disc rotors).WRX and XR6T are both great cars. Enjoy. Still the XR6T's a great way to go if you want a large sedan or ute with a lot of go, not everybody has problems.
Guest cul08r Guests Posted 02/12/03 12:35 AM Share Posted 02/12/03 12:35 AM Hey wrx03.I have done the harry bolt from the WRX scene, even though I love the cars. I just wish they could sort out the ugly (opinion) styling of the thing. Downhill all the way since the classic 98-00 I reckon. My T arrives on Dec 15th, so we'll see how things go then...I will miss the AWD though. I reckon a 300kw AWD XR6T will be awesome!Andrew

The MY03 & XR6T both May 03 purchases. After 6 months I still like driving the MY03 & XR6T, but I prefer the XR6T, for more effortless driving, space, towing capability and upgrade potential. It suits my current needs better. The XR6T is about to be upgraded to a Nizpro Stage 3, so I don’t think my Sti will get close to the XR6T in a performance race, unless it’s raining(when I’ll leave the XR6T at home). There have been a number of issues with the XR6T (none with my car), primarily brakes, but Subaru have been building rexes for almost 10 years, and ironed out most of the build issues. Ford will sort out it’s issues in due course, and improve build quality. The Ford is built to a price, especially with brakes and manual gearbox not up to scratch, the rex excellent value for overall better quality. The MY03 2 litre (it should be 2.5 litres) does a great job hauling around 1400kg, whereas the detuned XRT6 makes great torque for an easier job of hauling its 1700 kg. It always amazes me how quick off the mark the rex is.Brian
