Ok so I havent been babying it up till now but yet to have contact with the firewall, everyone has their own ideas about running in these days, I think its about time to utilise the 310kw, your thoughts? apart from a straight piece of road anything else I should consider?

The first service isn't due till 3000km, 1000km first services are a thing of the past now I think.

Brought my wife a Corolla 6 months ago, that had its first service at 1000km but they don't even change the oil.

Pulled my turbo out of the showroom and jumped on the freeway and caned it. Put 300kms on it then put it in for some performance upgrades. 1 week old and was pulling 340rwkw and now I have 134 000kms with out an iusse.

Last Ford I had was a BA Mk II, changed the oil at 1500 km. Drive Euro now and they all have extened oil changes which I ignore and halve. Things change and plenty of good advice on here. But my opinion is yeah run in is still applicable and yeah the first batch of oil should be tossed nice and early.

Cmon someone make some sense as now I am intrigued.

At 3000km they just check fluid levels. Takes an apprentice 10 minutes.

They found metal in the oil at mine at 2700~km's. Had a sook about it being on its second set of tyres already but didn't affect warranty. Lucky me.

Don't they change the oil at 3k? I thought the whole idea was to clear all the metal shavings out of a new motor.

nah mate they do sweet FA at 3000k's

Scotty is bang on the money, drop your first batch of oil nice and early and then halve whatever intervals they say for engine.

The ZF is not due for it's first change at 160,000 like fraud say, more like 30-50,000k's depending of how hard it gets driven.

Diff oil at 5-10,000k's wouldn't hurt either.
