Qantas is competing in a global market running a business, and must be competitive to survive.

FFS I can't believe how naive some people are

I am looking at the big picture buffy and its one where the jobs ARE gone overseas, the union want an agreement from Qantas that there will be no forced redundancies on local staff a 3% per year payrise (which has been agreed to) and a capped percentage on 3rd party contractors, all this to be agreed to for a 3-4 year deal. Why wont Qantas agree to guarantee job security?

OK Zero, rhetoric is probably poor choice of words, but it's unreasonable and that's the whole point. 3% may be peanuts but times that by the entire applicable workforce and it's fairly significant. They should get rid of all agreements and put them all back on the applicable award like the real world, that'll make them wake up.

Can you please answer my questions though instead of just avoiding them?

So it's not fair to compare them to the same demographic in a comparable airline, but it is fair to compare them to the CEO?

How is it fair that a Qantas pilot gets more than the Prime Minister of the entire friggin country?

Im not comparing them just saying that its rich to refuse a payrise initially but take one for yourself in the same week.

As you can see it doesn't take much to become PM or opposition leader, the pilots earning more than the PM are piloting the Airbuses and have over a decade of experience under their belts, I don't know about you but I like the idea of making sure the bloke at the wheel carrying 500+ people has a brain and solid training behind him

But are they really worth that much, $900+ per hour? And do they deserve a payrise?

Or a ramp worker on $90k, is he hard done by?

My heart bleeds for the poor bastards.

To be fair to Alan Joyce, his total remuneration is less than he was getting when CEO of Jetstar and is 9% less than last financial year.

The package also includes performance incentives that will obviously will not be met as it appears Tony Sheldon won't back down

Who are we to say they aren't worth that much? Qantas has a reputation for having the best safety record do they not? Im certain that wage is not typical of a ramp worker.
